Maurizio Costa, photographer and digital artist in Milan
For over 20 years I have been creating ultra-high-resolution technical images for companies, brands and institutions: 360° photo and video, time-lapse, corporate events and product photography.
I studied photography at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan, where I now work as a Senior Lab Technician. Over time I have added 3D modelling, multimedia production, video and immersive imaging to photography.
Many of my projects start from an unusual request: a difficult location, a tight schedule, a resolution that seems impossible, a technique that is not yet available on the market. I study the problem, choose or build the equipment and bring home the image.
I work by appointment, based in Milan, throughout Northern Italy and Switzerland.
Experience and recognition
- Senior Lab Technician at IED Istituto Europeo di Design, Milan
- Canon Coach since 2025: technical reference at official Canon trade fairs, events and workshops. I have worked with Canon since 2011
- 2012–2022: dozens of articles on photographic technique, software and new technology for Editrice Progresso
- Webinars for TAU Visual, the Italian national association of professional photographers, on focus stacking, photogrammetry and augmented reality
- Interactive book on the focus stacking technique, self-published on Apple Books
- Collaborations with photographers and agencies such as Luca Rotondo, Saverio Lombardi Vallauri, Retex, The Bus, Monogrid and Nuvicom
Research
Alongside commissioned work I pursue research projects: High and Low, a twenty-year study inspired by the work of M.C. Escher, spanning photography, video and the geometry of space; holograms, bullet time, photogrammetry and Gaussian Splatting; the collaboration with the artist Eleonora Roaro.
